Despite winning 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, Napoli have announced the sacking of veteran manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is said to be in line for a return to the Premier League.
The Italian boss was relieved of his duties by the Italian club in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after Napoli's emphatic home victory over Genk in their final Champions League group match of the campaign.
Prior to their 4-0 win, Ancelotti saw his men go on a torrid nine-match streak without a win in all competitions, losing twice and drawing seven times.
Napoli announced their decision on Twitter hours after their UCL game, but added that Ancelotti's relationship with the club remains intact.
