Juventus Legend Calls For Paul Pogba Return

A former Juventus superstar has urged the Serie A giants to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, and also named a Premier League manager as the ideal candidate to replace current coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Veteran Italian midfielder Claudio Marchisio spent more than two decades at Juve – 12 years in the club's youth structures and a further 13 years with the first team – before joining Russian Premier League club Zenit St Petersburg prior to the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

Reports of Allegri's potential exit from the Turin club have intensified following the Bianconeri's elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Ajax Amsterdam, and Marchisio believes Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should be the man to take over the reins from the former AC Milan coach.

"I'd like a coach that I believe can't be had: Jurgen Klopp. I'm crazy about his game and I like his way of playing football. He would do very well in Italian football," he told Tuttosport.

"But if Allegri stayed, I wouldn't see anything wrong with it because he's a coach who always wins and that's no small feat."

When asked about potential signings for Juve for the new season, the former Italy national team star mentioned three names as dream targets, but maintained that 2013 Golden Boy and former teammate Pogba ranks as the ideal signing.

"It's difficult... let's see: I was very impressed by (Frenkie) De Jong, but he's gone now. I'd love to see (Kevin) De Bruyne or (Eden) Hazard in Italy, but it seems difficult," Marchisio added.

"Therefore, I say Pogba. Paul's return would be great, also because Juventus need a midfielder to give more impetus to their attack.

"Frankly, I didn't understand his decision to go Manchester, where he had already been: I understand the money, but if he was thinking about the next step of his career then I would've chosen Spain."
