Begovic's arrival also opened the door for Milan's first January departure, with veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina leaving on a separate loan deal to join Aston Villa. Reina, who formerly played for Liverpool, returns to the Premier League after Villa stopper Tom Heaton suffered a season-ending injury.
On Tuesday, the Rossoneri completed their second signing of the window when Denmark international Simon Kjaer joined on loan from Sevilla, having had his short-term deal with Atalanta terminated prematurely.
