Reports claim that a Real Madrid legend has rejected the opportunity to reunite with former manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Ronaldo Blasts Ten Hag, Explains Fallout
Toni Kroos is currently in the final seven months of his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, and, with the January transfer market fast approaching, he will be able to negotiate a pre-contract with any club outside of LaLiga. Many clubs are privy to the situation, none more so than Guardiola and the Citizens.
The Spanish tactician has been a long-time admirer of the 32-year-old, having only worked with the elegant midfielder for one season at Bayern Munich. While he did try to sign Kroos when he first arrived at the Etihad Stadium, it seems that Guardiola has not given up in his pursuit to coach the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner once again.
According to Defensa Central, the reigning Premier League champions are trying to lure the five-time UEFA Champions League winner to England and have offered him a lucrative contract to join from the 2023/24 season, a deal which would make him one of the highest earning players in the league at €14 million (R252 million) per year.
Kante's Next Destination Revealed?
The same report does suggest that despite the profitable deal, Kroos does not want to join the Sky Blues and would much rather stay in the Spanish capital for another season. The Greifswald native is playing at an efficient level for Carlo Ancelotti's men and would rather retire than join City.
The former German international is keen on an extension at the Bernabeu but it remains to be seen if the European champions will give him his desired deal.
