Real Madrid Boss Florentino Perez Slammed For Selling Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been slammed for his decision to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

The Portugal star left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2018 after nine years of service, and Real have struggled to replace the forward since.

Eden Hazard was seen by some as an ideal replacement, but the Belgian has struggled with injury since making the move from Chelsea to Madrid, and former Los Blancos president Ramon Calderon has now lashed out at Perez for his decision to let Ronaldo go.

"That attitude and his natural conditions make him (Ronaldo) unbeatable. Without a doubt, he is an example for young people who aspire to succeed in the sport," he said, according to the Daily Mirror.

"The player understood that it was a great opportunity to advance his career and obtain titles and earn personal recognition.

"He was not wrong, he achieved four Ballons d'Or and four Champions League titles, and set records in terms of goals scored in several seasons. Something within reach of very few people.

"It was a big mistake by the current president (Perez) to sell him for €110 million (R2 billion) after nine years in the team. It is a pity because he is showing in Italy that he is still one of the best in the world."

With Perez being known for his "Galactico" approach, reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has become his top priority as they look to fill the goal void left by Ronaldo.
