LaLiga Report: Real Madrid v Leganes 30 October 2019

Result: Real Madrid 5-0 Leganes

Date: 30 October 2019

Venue: Santiago Bernabeu

While FC Barcelona won big on Tuesday, Real Madrid claimed an emphatic win of their own after thrashing Leganes 5-0 in LaLiga on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane kept the same side that edged Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League last Tuesday, with Rodrygo continuing in place of the injured Gareth Bale alongside included Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema.

The hosts had a bright start as Rodrygo got the opener in the seventh minute with a side-footed shot from close range after a cross from Benzema.

Zidane's men got the second goal a minute later after Toni Kroos scored with an audacious back-heel following another cross from Benzema, as the visitors had no answer Los Blancos.

Los Blancos were fortunate to grab a third goal on 25 minutes when Sergio Ramos converted from the penalty spot at the second attempt after his first spot-kick, which was saved, after Juan Soriano went off his line too early.

Zidane's troops were finding opportunities to find the fourth goal before the break but they just could not find the finishing touches and took their 3-0 lead to the break while Leganes needed to limit the damage in the second stanza.

Madrid were keeping their intensity going forward early in the second stanza and they were awarded another penalty with 22 minutes remaining after Kenneth Omeruo brought down substitute Luka Modric inside the box. This time, Benzema took the spot-kick and made it 4-0 with a cool finish.

Luka Jovic thought he had bagged the fifth goal with 15 minutes remaining after latching onto a through-ball at the far side, but the linesman raised his flag for offside.

Jovic finally got on the scoresheet in stoppage time with a header on the far side that found the top corner to take his tally to two goals for the season as Los Blancos ran out emphatic winners on the night.
