Belgium captain Eden Hazard has apologised to Real Madrid supporters, after scoring just seven goals in 72 appearances following his club-record arrival in 2019.
Hazard Makes Mind Up On Real Madrid Future?
Since his arrival at Los Blancos three years ago, the Belgian winger has failed to make the impact supporters hoped he would after he was handed the famous No. 7 jersey.
Hazard has managed to find the net just seven times in white, with injuries and general fitness issues plaguing the majority of the time he has spent at the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners so far.
This season, the 31-year-old has played just 229 minutes of football despite being fit for most of the campaign. Brazilian youngsters Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo have been preferred over the former Chelsea man, who was once considered among the world's best attackers.
Speaking in a recent interview, Hazard apologised to Real fans as he made it clear that it is wish to get more game time in the Spanish capital.
"Madrid fans, I'm sorry. It's not easy, I don't play, I want to play more. I'm really sorry for what happened," he told Marca.
"At Chelsea, played hundreds of games, without injuries. At Madrid, I've all of these injuries. It's something I can't explain."
Hazard is expected to captain Belgium in the Middle East as Roberto Martinez's men seek to claim the World Cup for the first time in the country's history.
