Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has lashed out at Real Madrid following the Welshman's return to the Premier League.
Bale endured a tough couple of years as his spell with Real was coming to a close, before completing a move back to Tottenham Hotspur on loan – a deal that could yet become permanent.
The Wales superstar left for Spain in what was a world-record transfer at the time in 2013, and lifted 13 trophies during his stint at the Santiago Bernabeu, including four UEFA Champions League titles.
During his time at the club, Bale never really connected with the Los Blancos fans, though, and Barnett has now blasted the way the player has been treated by the media and Real.
"I've been his agent since he was a very young boy, and I am so proud of him," he said, according to talkSPORT.
"Not just for his achievements and everything else, but because he has become a great man. He's never said anything wrong, he's never done anything... his life has been exemplary really.
"When he came here, one of the newspapers started writing articles about his family and his wife's family in the papers – that is scandalous.
"This country should be very proud of him, Great Britain should be very proud of him. Stop knocking him and write what he's done and what he's achieved.
"It's very annoying, and it's the same with Real Madrid and what he's achieved for them.
"They should be kissing the floor he walks on."
