According to ESPN, Carlos Tevez is close to a move from Boca Juniors to Shanghai Shenhua, and would become the world's highest paid player if the transfer is completed.
The former United and Manchester City striker will apparently earn a whopping £615 000 (R10.6 million) a week with the Chinese club, almost double Ronaldo's reported weekly wages of £365 000 (R6.3 million).
Tevez's current contract with Boca Juniors only expires June 2018, but it has been widely reported that he played his final game for the Argentine giants in their 4-1 win over Colon on Sunday.
The 32-year-old, who scored his side's second goal in that encounter, received a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 90th minute, and left the pitch in tears.

Following nine years in Europe, Tevez returned to his boyhood club in July last year, but he is expected to complete his move to China early in January so that he will be eligible to feature in the new Chinese season, starting in February.
