On Thursday evening, news emerged that the 25-year-old has made the call to move on from the Ligue 1 champions when his deal expires at the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign.
This was according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, who said Mbappe parting ways with PSG would save the club an enormous €200 million (R4 billion) a year due to his significant annual wage.
French publication L'Equipe has since claimed that, as of Thursday, the framework of a deal with Real Madrid has already been concluded amid a long pursuit of the player by the Spanish giants.
Los Blancos went close to landing Mbappe's signature in 2022, before he had a change of heart and instead chose to extend his stay in Paris for another two years.
While it is expected that the France captain will earn less in Madrid than he does in France, the thought is that the forward wants to prioritise football above financial gain.
As per Ornstein, PSG do have a plan in place to replace Mbappe, who is their all-time record goalscorer, which could include a move for Napoli and Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen.
