At the beginning of 2023, the 21-year-old saw charges on suspicion of attempted rape, assault and coercive control dropped by the British authorities.
The Red Devils subsequently conducted an investigation of their own into the events that led to the forward's arrest in 2022.
While the club maintained that the Bradford native was innocent, they did decide that it would be best for attacker to restart his career elsewhere, which led to LALIGA outfit Getafe signing him on a season-long.
As a result of the deal being a straight one-year loan, the United academy graduate is still contracted to United. While this may be the case for now, according to The Athletic, it may not for much longer.
The English publication claims that during an in-house meeting, the club's chief executive officer Richard Arnold was fielding questions pertaining to a plethora of situations within the club and when quizzed about whether or not the England international has a future at Old Trafford he said: "There's no expectation of Mason playing for Manchester United".

Where Greenwood does continue his career in the future does remain the big question and will perhaps be contingent on how well he does on the outskirts of Madrid. He made his debut this past weekend against Osasuna in the league, where he got 13 minutes of playing time.
