Manchester United Boss Ten Hag Confirms Bad Casemiro News

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Casemiro is likely to only return for Manchester United after Christmas.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed unwelcome news relating to Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, whom many believe has made a poor start to this season.

The Brazil international returned to action for the Red Devils against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup earlier this month, but could only play the first half before being substituted.

Speaking after the game, a humiliating 3-0 loss at home to the team they beat in last season's final of the same tournament, Ten Hag said the 31-year-old had picked up a knock and was being assessed.

Casemiro played no part in United's 1-0 away win over Fulham in the Premier League this past weekend, meaning he has now missed three league matches in a row, and it now appears he will be out for some time still.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of the Red Devils' UEFA Champions League game against Copenhagen on Wednesday night, Ten Hag confirmed that the ex-Real Madrid player, as well as Lisandro Martinez, is unlikely to be back before Christmas.

"I don't expect Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro to be available again before Christmas," he said, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Casemiro was considered one of the best signings of last season following the impact he had in England as United won the Carabao Cup and finished third in the Premier League.

In this campaign so far, though, the Brazil midfielder has struggled for form despite scoring four goals across all competitions.
