According to a new report, incoming Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe could sack Erik ten Hag in favour of his preferred managerial candidate once his investment in the club is confirmed.

The drawn-out saga involving the partial sale of the Red Devils seems to be approaching its end as the British billionaire is expected to be announced as the club's new minority owner before the end of 2023.
Ratcliffe is believed to be on the verge of realising a dream of his, and upon his introduction to the club, he is expected to immediately take charge of the sporting side of the institution.
According to The Sun, one of the first major decisions the Englishman could make is to fire Ten Hag. The 53-year-old saw United record their lowest-ever points tally in a UEFA Champions League group stage this season as they finished bottom of Group A.
The UCL exit comes days after they were beaten at home for the first time ever by Bournemouth last weekend.
While Ten Hag's fate is not yet sealed, a heavy loss to Liverpool this weekend could see the pressure ramp up intensely for the former Ajax Amsterdam boss.
Anfield was the last venue Jose Mourinho was in charge of a United matchday squad, and the same could be true for the Haaksbergen native should he suffer a defeat akin to the 7-0 drubbing United received there last season.
