Mbappe opened the scoring in PSG's 2-0 Ligue 1 victory over Marseille on Sunday night, after coming on as a second-half substitute.
Many were surprised to see the 19-year-old start from the bench, although reports suggest that he and midfielder Adrien Rabiot were punished for arriving late to a team meeting at the hotel before the squad made their way to Marseille's stadium.
Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the starlet and Rabiot were benched due to a lack of discipline.
"It was a disciplinary issue in the hotel before the match, and that's why we decided that they wouldn't start," he said, according to the Daily Mail.
"It's a shame because I don't like to play without Kylian and Adrien, but today it was necessary and after that it's all good, it's finished."
