Neymar joined the Ligue 1 leaders for €222 million (R3.23 billion) in the club's attempt dominate European football. However, despite spending all the money, PSG were knocked out of this season's Champions League at the same stage as in the previous campaign – this time 5-2 on aggregate by Real Madrid.
The focus for president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and the club's technical team is now to get rid of players who have not performed as expected, or could bring in a respectable transfer fee.
Former FC Barcelona and Juventus right back Dani Alves is reportedly high on the club's axe list, according to French newspaper Le Parisien. Many believe the 34-year-old is blocking Thomas Meunier's development, and showed his limitations when Real's Marco Asensio won possession off him and outran the Brazilian to help set up Cristiano Ronaldo's goal in Los Blancos' 2-1 win in the second leg of their round of 16 tie at the Parc des Princes.
In addition, both left back options, Layvin Kurzawa and Yuri Berchiche, have failed to impress at the highest level and are believed to be on their way out.
Players such as Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore and Marco Verratti are the pillars of the squad, but Le Parisien believe PSG's bosses are keen to sell them as long as they can receive a sizable transfer fee for the quartet.

Adrien Rabiot has impressed the most of all the mentioned players, but the highly rated youth product is reportedly keen on extending his contract, which currently expires in 2019. However, his wage demands could price him out of a stay at PSG amid interest from many top clubs in Europe.
