According to ESPN, former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel will manage the French side next season.

The report claims his appointment is likely to be announced at the end of the current campaign, while it is said that Emery will almost certainly be sacked once this season is officially over.

Securing Tuchel was not as simple as it perhaps sounds, as there were many different opinions among PSG board members as to who should take charge next season.

It is believed that sporting director Antero Henrique wanted either Shakhtar Donetsk's Paulo Fonseca or Monaco's Leonardo Jardim to be the side's next boss, while club president Nasser Al Khelaifi was preparing Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. Even former FC Barcelona boss Luis Enrique was reportedly seen as an option.

However, the club's owner, the Emir of Qatar, was the one who decided Tuchel was the right man for the position, a viewpoint the likes of Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Henrique could not challenge.

The major task for the German manager will undoubtedly be his handling of the many big egos in the PSG dressing room, such as the likes of Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Marco Verratti, among others.

The tactician is known to be a strict trainer, and one who pays great attention to details, such as player diets.

Initially, PSG wanted a coach with more European experience in order to finally become a major role player in the UEFA Champions League, and it remains to be seen whether Tuchel has what it takes to take the French giants to the next level.

The 44-year-old has just a single trophy, the DFB-Pokal, in his cabinet and could be looking to add to that in France.
