Paris Saint-Germain's Midfield Shortlist Revealed?

Paris Saint-Germain's Midfield Shortlist Revealed?

With French giants Paris Saint-Germain believed to have been desperate to add quality to their squad in the previous transfer window, their midfield shortlist has reportedly now been revealed.

Click through the mini-gallery above to see three midfielders PSG were after in the off-season.

According to Le10Sport, the Ligue 1 champions considered moves for FC Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic, Chelsea's N'Golo Kante and Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the previous window.

It has been claimed that PSG simply could not fork out the money required to buy one of these stars in August, which is why the French giants did not sign the top midfielder they desire.

The club then turned its attention to other players such as Marouane Fellaini, Axel Witsel, Fred and Renato Sanches, but were unable to secure any of their signatures either.

Les Parisiens looked short in midfield when they took on Liverpool in their first UEFA Champions League match of the season, with Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos lining up alongside Adrien Rabiot for that clash.

The French side were overrun in middle of the park by the likes of Jordan Henderson and James Milner in their 3-2 defeat, which could concern the board, who want to see the club challenge for Europe's biggest prize.

PSG will undoubtedly return for one of the midfielders on the shortlist in the coming windows, although they could also set their sights on Paul Pogba, who is said to be unhappy at Manchester United.
