Result: Strasbourg 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 05 December 2018
Venue: Stade de la Meinau
Paris Saint-Germain have dropped points for the second successive Ligue 1 game after drawing 1-1 with Strasbourg on Wednesday evening.
The Ligue 1 champions were looking for a return to winning ways after they dropped points for the first time this season over the weekend.
PSG made their intentions clear early on as Eric Choupo-Moting and Julian Draxler went close to breaking the deadlock in the opening 15 minutes.
Thomas Tuchel's men dominated the possession from the onset, but without Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on the pitch, they lacked a bit of creativity in the final third.
The visitors were then awarded a penalty in the five minutes before the break, which allowed Kenny Lala to step up and convert to put Strasbourg ahead.
PSG had the ball in the back of the net in the 57th minute through Edinson Cavani's header, but the Uruguayan's strike was flagged offside.
The visitors were eventually awarded a penalty in the 71st minute following a foul on second-substitute Mbappe. Cavani stepped up and made no mistake to level matters.
Alphonse Areola kept PSG in the game late on with a stunning save to keep out Adrien Thomasson's powerful shot, which seemed destined for the top corner.
The hosts thought they had taken the lead in second-half stoppage time, but Thomasson's header was chalked off for an offside as the encounter ended 1-1.
