Ligue 1

Result: Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Rennes

Date: 12 May 2018

Venue: Parc de Princes

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain's 41-game unbeaten run at home came to an end after losing 2-0 to Rennes on Saturday evening.

PSG were without the services of Edinson Cavani, Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti and Dani Alves.

Unai Emery's charges head into the clash on the back of a 2-0 win over Les Herbiers in the French Cup final on Wednesday night.

The hosts dominated the opening exchanges this weekend and nearly went ahead after 10 minutes as Angel di Maria rattled the upright with a powerful strike from distance.

Les Parisians enjoyed most of the possession in the early stages, although chances were hard to come by as the half went on.

That proved to be the trend for the rest of the opening 45 minutes as Rennes struggled to carve out clear-cut chances, which saw the sides enter the break goalless.

Seven minutes into the second half, Rennes were awarded a penalty, which Benjamin Bourigeaud managed to convert to hand his side the lead.

Emery responded with a double change just after the hour mark as Nkunku and Lassan Diara replaced Andrien Rabiot and Julian Draxler respectively.

However, the visitors managed double their lead on 71 minutes, with France Under-20 international Adrien Hunou firing past Alphonse Areola from close range.

Javier Pastore nearly pulled a goal back with four minutes remaining, but Tomáš Koubek produced a good save to ensure Rennes walked away with three points and a clean sheet.
