Result: Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Cean
Date: 12 August 2018
Venue: Parc de Princes
Neymar began the Ligue 1 season with a goal as champions Paris Saint-Germain registered a 3-0 win over Caen at the Parc de Princes on Sunday evening.
Thomas Tuchel handed a Ligue 1 debut to new signing Gianluigi Buffon, while Neymar was included from the start.
It took the champions nine minutes to open the scoring, with Neymar getting on the score-sheet after profiting from a Cean defensive error.
Buffon was called up upon nine minutes later, with the veteran shot-stopper producing a fine save to keep out Malik Tchokounte's powerful shot.
The lead was doubled on 35 minutes as some good build-up by Angel di Maria set up Adrien Rabiot, who made no mistake from close range.
That proved to be the final piece of goal-mouth action in the half as the hosts went into the break with a two-goal advantage.
Seven minutes into the second half, the woodwork denied Caen's a goal as Stef Peeters' free-kick crashed against the post with Buffon well beaten.
PSG continue to push for more goals as the likes of Di Maria and Christopher Nkunku saw efforts denied by Caen shot-stopper Brice Samba.
After a quiet spell in the half, Timothy Wear replaced Neymar with eight minutes remaining and he nearly got on the score-sheet minutes later but Samba was on hand to deny the striker with a fine save.
Weah was not to be denied in the 89th minute as the striker pounced a poor back pass before firing pass Samba to round off a good win.
