Kylian Mbappe scored and was then sent off for Paris Saint-Germain as the Ligue 1 champions defeated Nimes in a six-goal thriller on Saturday.

The Champions dominated from the onset but they were unable to take advantage, with Mbappe squandering two good chances in the opening 15 minutes.

PSG were eventually rewarded for their dominance after 36 minutes as Neymar opened the scoring with close-range after an impressive passing move.

Four minutes later, the lead was doubled as Angel di Maria managed to find the back of the net straight from the corner.

The hosts nearly pulled a goal back on the stroke of halftime but PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola produced a superb ave to keep out Mustapha Diallo's low strike.

Nimes did eventually reduce the deficit after the hour mark, with substitute Antonin Bobichon curling one into the top corner from the edge of the box.

The home side were level in the 71st minutes when Téji Savanier converted from the penalty spot after Thiago Silva committed a foul in the box.

Nimes' joy was short-lived as PSG restored their lead six minutes later courtesy of a smashing from Kylian Mbappe after an impressive long pass from Presnel Kimpembe.

The Ligue 1 champions managed bag a fourth goal in time added on as Mbappe turned provider to pick out Cavani, who made no mistake from close range.

The game ended on a sour note for PSG as Mbappe was shown a straight red card for his reaction to Savanier, who was also sent off for a poor challenge on the World Cup winner.
