Kylian Mbappe Reveals He Donated All His 2018 FIFA World Cup Bonus To Charity

While we have often heard about bonus payment rows among African teams during World Cups, French teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe has now revealed that he gave all his bonuses from Russia 2018 to charity.

The 19-year-old, whose father is from Cameroon and whose mother is from Algeria, scored four goals during France's World Cup-winning campaign in Russia this year, and became one of the youngest players ever to lift the famous Jules Rimet trophy.

However, despite his fast-tracked rise to stardom, Mbappe has stayed grounded, and even gave all his World Cup bonuses to French charity Premiers de Cordee, which helps disabled children engage in sports. He has now explained why he did this.

"I did not need to be paid. I was there to defend the colours of the country," he told TIME magazine.

"Also, I earn enough money – a lot of money.

"So I think it is important to help those who are in need. A lot of people are suffering, a lot of people have diseases.

"For people like us, giving a helping hand to people is not a big thing. It doesn't change my life, but it changes theirs. And if it can change theirs, it is a great pleasure.

"I gave the money to the charity where I am a sponsor because being handicapped is something difficult.

"Showing them that they can do sports like everyone, it is something close to my heart."
