AS Monaco Sack Coach, Thierry Henry Lined Up!

AS Monaco have officially sacked title-winning coach Leonardo Jardim, with reports suggesting Thierry Henry has been lined up as his replacement.

The Ligue 1 side announced Jardim's departure from the club on Thursday after dropping to 18th on the log, having won only one league game so far this season.

Jardim took over at Monaco in 2014 and guided them to their first league title in 17 years in 2016/17, during which Kylian Mbappe was the breakout star for the side.

The 44-year-old coach, who was crowned Ligue 1 Manager of the Year in 2016/17, will likely be replaced by former Arsenal and FC Barcelona striker Henry.

According to ESPN, Henry will return to the club he began his professional career at, and with whom he lifted the Ligue 1 title in the 1996/97 campaign.

He is still Roberto Martinez's assistant for the Belgium national team, but is said to be in negotiations with his potential new employees, with the report suggesting that only a few details need to be ironed out.

If he does take over from Jardim, Henry's first game in charge could be the match against Lebo Mothiba's Strasbourg after the international break.
