With Ousmane Dembele continuing his resurgence in a Barcelona shirt, here is the latest regarding the French winger's future at the Camp Nou.
Four Barca Players Get Injured On International Duty
Following Xavi Hernandez's arrival in the Barca hot seat late last year, the 25-year-old appears to finally be living up to the hype of his €130 million (R2.2 billion) transfer from Borussia Dortmund to the Blaugrana in 2017.
After he first joined the club, Dembele's career in Spain was largely plagued by injuries and unproductive performances, falling way below the expectations set by his predecessor Neymar, whom he had effectively been brought in to replace.
Since Xavi was appointed as Barca's head coach in November 2021, however, the France international has seen a dramatic upturn in form.
In the 21 LaLiga games the forward played last season, he managed to assist 13 strikes, and he has continued his rich vein of form in the 2022/23 campaign, with two goals and four assists in eight matches across all competitions so far.
Those performances helped earn him a new two-year extension at the club in July, but it seems the Catalan giants could capitalise on the Les Bleus attacker's brilliant displays in the transfer market.
According to ARA, the five-time European champions are now willing to sell the winger for €100 million (R1.7 billion) in the January window.
It is claimed that Xavi is keen on bringing Real Madrid's Marco Asensio to the Camp Nou, and Dembele might need to make way as a result.
'Alexander-Arnold's Defending Is Championship Level'
The same report suggests that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner would receive 50% of the transfer fee should his €100 million release clause be triggered by any club.
