Barcelona legend Ronaldinho's son has now followed in his father's footsteps by officially signing with the Blaugrana.

Joao Mendes de Assis Moreira has inked a contract with Barca's U19 team after training with the Blaugrana's Juvenil A side since the beginning of the year.

Following a successful trial, the Catalan giants have signed the young attacker to a one-year deal, with the official signing taking place on Thursday as academy director Jose Ramon Alexanko watched on.
After a year, the club will consider extending his stay should the South American continue to impress.
The teenager had been plying his trade for Cruzeiro since he was 14, but cancelled his contract with the club at the end of 2022. Now, Mendes will be joining the club his father played at for five illustrious years.
During Ronaldinho's time at the Camp Nou, the skilful attacker found the back of the net 94 times and assisted another 70 strikes in 207 appearances, helping the Spanish juggernauts capture two LaLiga titles as well as the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League trophy.
