Around this time last year, the Frenchman was approaching free agency and attracting a lot of interest from the likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain as Barca contemplated life without the electric winger.
Eventually, though, the 26-year-old signed a two-year extension with the Blaugrana, but 12 months later, questions surrounding the attacker's future at the Camp Nou have resurfaced.
When Dembele re-signed with the five-time UEFA Champions League winners at the beginning of last season, a €50 million (R1 billion) release clause was inserted into his contract for this off-season, and having helped Barcelona win their first LaLiga title since 2019 with eight goals and nine assists, there would likely be suitors ready to activate the clause.
However, according to Sport, Dembele will not be calling a new club home next year as he has decided to sign a new deal with the Catalan giants that will extend his stay until 2027.
The Frenchman is believed to feel that head coach Xavi Hernandez can help him deliver the one big trophy missing from his cabinet, the Champions League.

The same report claims that his decision has already been made known to Barca chiefs Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff by the forward's representative Moussa Sissoko, with the two parties said to now be nearing an agreement over the Frenchman's new deal.
