Reports in England suggest that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is close to selling the club after 13 years in charge, with the Magpies expected to be sold for £300 million (R7 billion) to Saudi Arabia royal family's Public Investment Fund (PIF) led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He is said to be worth £260 billion (R6.1 trillion), which would make him the wealthiest Premier League club owner if the takeover is officially completed, but who currently holds that seat?
Manchester United bosses Avram and Joel Glazer rank only eighth on the list of the richest owners in England's top division, below Leicester City's Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, a Thai businessman who inherited the club after his dad, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, tragically died in a helicopter accident outside the King Power Stadium in 2018.

Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers' owners are said to be richer than the aforementioned bosses, while the wealthiest owner currently is Manchester City's Sheikh Mansour.
