Result: Burnley v Arsenal

Date: 17 February 2024

Venue: Turf Moor

Manager Mikel Arteta went with the same side that started the win over West Ham United, while Burnley manager Vincent Kompany confirmed striker Lyle Foster would be out for a few weeks.

The Gunners got off to a perfect start when captain Martin Odegaard opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute with a powerful finish into the bottom corner.

Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford had to be at his best after 15 minutes to keep the score down, as he produced a superb block to deny Leandro Trossard, who was in on goal.

The hosts, meanwhile, were unable to trouble Gunners goalkeeper David Raya for most of the half although striker Datro Fofana did give the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel something to think about on a few ocassions.

The visitors' pressure paid off in the 39th minute after winning a peanlty for Lorenz Assignon's foul on Trossard in the box. Bukayo Saka stepped up and calmly slotted into the bottom corner.

Arteta's men started the second half as they ended the first, with Saka finding the back of the net with a close-range finish to extend the advantage to three clear goals.

The visitors showed no signs of slowing down and went on to bag a fourth goal after 66 minutes as Trossard curling into the back of the net after pouncing on a loose ball in the box.

The Gunners did go on to grab a fourth goal with eight minutes left on the clock, as Kai Havertz broke free down the left flank, cut past one defender before firing past Trafford.
