Result: Brentford 1-4 Liverpool

Venue: Gtech Community Stadium

Mohamed Salah was back in the squad but was only named on the bench, as Jurgen Klopp recalled Conor Bradley and Ibrahim Konate in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jarell Quansah.

The game got off to a lively start as the Reds went close to scoring on ten minute when Bradley saw his low strike saved by Mark Flekken while Diogo Jota was denied on the rebound.

Klopp was then forced to make a change on 30 minutes when midfielder Curtis Jones was unable to continue after picking up a knock. He was replaced by Ryan Gravenberch in the middle of the park.

Liverpool soldiered on and took the lead in the 34th minute when Diogo Jota nodded the ball into the path of Darwin Nunez, who raced clear on goal and lobbed Flekken.

However, another name would be added to the Reds' injury list as Jota was stretchered off after an awkward landing, which saw Klopp call on top scorer Salah just before the halftime break.

Liverpool doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second half when Salah turned provider to pick out Alexis MacAllister, who controlled well before slotting home from close range.

The third goal arrived in the 69th minute as Salah latched onto a knockdown from Cody Gakpo before skipping pas the final challenge and firing into the far corner for his 15th league goal.

Brentford did manage to pull a goal back with 15 minutes left on the clock as Kelleher parried Sergio Reguilon's shot into the path of Ivan Toney, who made no mistake from close range.

However, the Reds restored their three-goal advantage in the final four minutes when a poor defensive error saw Luis Diaz play in Gakpo, who calmly slotted home to round off a big win to cement top spot.
