With Joao Cancelo having recently completed his loan to Bayern Munich from Manchester City, an executive at the Bavarian giants has hinted at possibly bringing the Portuguese star on board permanently.

One of the biggest and most unexpected deals of the January transfer window transpired on deadline day as City right-back Cancelo switched the Etihad Stadium for Bayern's Allianz Arena for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign.
Following the 28-year-old's reported fallout with Pep Guardiola, the Portugal international took the opportunity to join the Bundesliga giants as the two-time treble winners completed a swift loan move.
The deal includes a €70 million (R1.3 billion) buy option for the record German champions at the end of the season, however, Bayern Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic has admitted that while the club are fans of the Cancelo, the figure be beyond the Bavarian outfit's reach but a resolution could be found.
"After the transfer was done, we actually thought again about how long we've been dealing with João. We came up with more than four years. Either our position was filled or we didn't have the money for it," the Bosnian said while speaking to Bild.
"We've made clear to Joao that this fee is difficult for us to imagine. But if all sides absolutely want a solution, we can manage it."

It is clear why Bayern are eager to keep him because since arriving at the home of the six-time European champions, the attacking fullback already has two assists in his first two appearances.
