Bundesliga Wrap: Serge Gnabry Hat-Trick Sees Bayern Munich Open Nine-Point Lead

Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the log to nine points after drubbing Stuttgart 5-0 courtesy of a hat-trick by Serge Gnabry at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Gnabry broke the deadlock for the Bavarians just before the half-time break and made it 2-0 just after the break while Robert Lewandowski got two quick goals with 18 minutes remaining before Gnabry completed his hat-trick two minutes later.

Wolfsburg lost their fourth game on the bounce after they were edged by Koln in a five-goal thriller at Volkswagen Arena.

Lukas Nmecha gave the Wolves an early lead but Anthony Modeste levelled matters for the visitors 11 minutes before the half-time break.

Wout Weghorst restored the lead for Wolfsburg early in the second stanza but Mark Uth equalised for Koln 17 minutes before time.

Modeste snatched the winner for the visitors in the last minute and also grabbed his brace.

Mainz went up to sixth on the table after thrashing Hertha Berlin 4-0 at Mewa Arena.

Lee Jae-sung opened the scoring for Mainz in the 19th minute, Alexander Hack doubled their lead just before the half-time break, Silvan Widmer put the game to bed early in the second stanza before Jean-Paul Boetius rounded off the rout 11 minutes before time.

Arminia Bielefeld boosted their chances of surviving relegation after beating Bochum 2-0 Schuco Arena.

After a goalless first stanza Masaya Okugawa eventually broke the deadlock for Arminia early in the second stanza and Patrick Wimmer secured the three points 21 minutes before time.
