Union Berlin got back to winning ways in the Bundesliga after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt a 2-1 on Monday evening.

Portuguese international Andre Silva started from the bench, with dangerman Filip Kostic leading the fray for the hosts who aimed to close in on the top-sixth contingent.

Berlin looked to hit the front four minutes from the onset, but Neven Subotic's header proved no trouble for the opposite number who gathered comfortably.

In similar circumstance, Berlin missed another clear opener when Yunus Malli headed well wide of target after meeting a cross from Christian Gentner.

Malli was presented with a threatening opportunity following the midway point, but once again failed to use the inviting chance to a telling effect.

Sebastian Andersson gave the visitors the lead two minutes after the break with a strong right-footed finish following a defensive mix-up..

Berlin nearly had a second following the 65th minute, but Bulter failed to put Ingvartsen's delivery to good use with a shot over the crossbar, with Kostic turning a corner over the top.

The visitors did however double their lead after Evan N'Dicka turned Ingvartsen's ball across the face of goal into his own net.

Frankfurt looked to hit back immediately, but a superb goal-saving act from Rafal Gikiewicz denied the home side who now had a mountain to climb.

It took a stroke of good fortunate to bring the hosts back in the contest after Florian Hubner deflected Silva's back-heel into his own net in the last 12 minutes.

Frankfurt threw bodies forward with the hope of snatching a point at the very least, however Berlin marched to victory to leapfrog their opposition to 11th spot on the table.
