Bundesliga Report: Eintracht Frankfurt v Augsburg 07 February 2020

Eintracht Frankfurt extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the Bundesliga after thrashing Augsburg 5-0, with Timothy Chandler and Filip Kostic starring on Friday night.

The visitors almost grabbed an early lead in the ninth minute after breaking away on the left side of th box but his left-footed strike was saved by Eintracht shot-stopper Kevin Trapp.

The game opened up after that and the Eagles came close to breaking the deadlock in the 32nd minute after Evan Ndicka whipped a dangerous cross into the box, Chandler's header was saved by Augsburg shot-stopper Koubek.

Eintracht eventually found the breakthrough with eight minutes left of the first stanza after Chandler fired a right-footed shot into the top corner from Dominik Kohr's pass.

Florian Niederlechner came close to finding the equaliser for Augsburg five minutes before the break with a strike from a difficult angle that was goal-bound but it was kept out by Trapp while Koubek denied Andre Silva a second goal for Eintracht minutes later.

The hosts started the second stanza brightly, as Chandler doubled their lead three minutes from the break with a header from Kostic's cross to complete his brace.

Kostic turned to be the provider again ten minutes inside the second stanza as his cross found Silva, who nodded past Trapp from close range.

The Eagles were in complete control and creating chances in the closing minutes but had to wait until the last minute for the fourth goal, with Kostic getting on the score-sheet with a neat finish into the bottom corner,

Kostic added the fifth goal his second a minute later with a finish from close range as Eintracht moved up to ninth on the table while Augsburg dropped to 11th position.
