During pre-season, the Glamour Boys lost the Toyota Cup for the second consecutive year, falling to Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko on penalties in the 2025 edition of the competition. While they were defeated at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Chiefs were reportedly impressed by one player in particular: Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara.
The two-capped international is the son of former AmaZulu shot-stopper Kemeko Camara, and it seems he could be following in his father’s footsteps by moving to the South African top flight.
According to AfricaFoot, the Soweto giants are in talks with the record Ghanaian Premier League champions over a potential transfer for the 25-year-old and could conclude a deal sooner rather than later.
Speaking to Africa Foot, Camara revealed that he was approached by the Betway Premiership side after their pre-season clash:
“I was approached after our friendly match. They appreciated my performance, especially the four penalties saved. We had a long conversation. I told them to contact my club, as I still have a one-year contract. It's nice to see the interest from a historic club like Kaizer Chiefs.”

Camara also confirmed interest from other clubs, adding:
“There are other clubs in Morocco and two in Europe who have also contacted me for information, but nothing concrete yet. I am ready to see out my contract. For now, there is no question of an extension. I am keeping my head up and working even harder to have a better season.”
A right of reply was offered to Kaizer Chiefs but no response was received at the time of publishing.
