Despite the injury troubles, Al Ahly broke the deadlock inside the first firts minute when talisman Mohamed Sherif fired home after being set up by Taher Mohamed.

There would be no more goals from Sherif in the encounter, as he was forced off with 34 minutes played and replaced by Shady Hussein.

Marcel Koller's troops continued dictate play for the rest of the half and were rewarded with a second goal five minutes before the break, with Ahmed Kendouci getting his first goal for the club.

The Cameroonian outfit responded with three changes at the start of the second half, as Ramses Nguimzeu, Moshood Kasali and Abdouraman Bouba were introduced for the final 45 minutes.

However, the ten-time African champions carried out the dominance in the second stanza and managed to deny the visitors a clear sight at Mohamed El Shenway's goal.

There was time for a third goal, as Rafaat Khalil added his name to the score-sheet in second-half stoppage time after finishing off a well-worked move.
