Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker is a player who possesses a serious amount of talent and natural ability. Hond has been one of Amakhosi’s most influential players in recent times, and his success with the club is testament to that.
Having said that, should our fans treat Parker not only as a fan favourite, but a club legend as well?
In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, issue 911, this topic was raised. When asked why it seems as if he is not loved like a legend at the club, he mentioned in a humble manner that he only plays according to the coach's instructions and not for personal gains.
“I have achieved a lot as a player and I have also achieved things with Chiefs in my short stay here. It’s not up to me to say if the supporters or fans like me, I am here to do a job for the team and I play according to the coach's instructions,” Parker said.
He made the point that it is every player wishes to become a legend, but it can only materialise over time.
“We all want to be legends, but it all comes with time. When that time comes, it will come,” he added.
Reflecting on Parkers sentiments, do you feel he has what it takes to become a Chiefs legend?
