The story

Buccaneers utility player, Deon Hotto received some recognition from his home country over the weekend after receiving the Professional Athlete of the Year in the Diaspora.

The award ceremony took place at the Windhoek Country Club on Saturday evening, where some of Namibia's brightest athletes were appreciated for their contributions to the country's sporting efforts.

As per reports in Namibia, Isack Hamata accepted the award on Hotto's behalf and commended the athlete's unwavering dedication and versatility.

"Everyone who knows Hotto understands his work ethic and adaptability on the pitch. There's a running joke that he's played every position — even behind the goalkeeper! He's devoted to keeping Namibia in the football spotlight," said Namibia Football Associations' Director of Marketing Sales.

"God Did. Thank you everyone for the recognition..." wrote Hotto in reaction to his award, with the 34-year-old taking to Instagram to share a clip of his award being announced.
