With the season drawing to a close, it’s looking increasingly likely that it will be another season for Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool to forget, but this season’s woes may go even further than the last game of the league campaign.
As everyone knows, Steven Gerrard will be on his way out of Liverpool at the end of the season, but there are other players who could follow suit.
Glen Johnson and Kolo Toure will be out of contract at the end of the season, while Raheem Sterling could very well be on his way - with interest from Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Martin Skrtel’s future at Liverpool is also in doubt after reports that Wolfsburg are keen on signing the central defender, as they’re favourites for a Champions League spot after a good season in the Bundesliga.
It’s expected that Mario Balotelli will be sold after his torrid time at Anfield, as well as reports that Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini will want to leave for more regular first-team action.
Reserve goalkeeper, Brad Jones, could also leave the Merseyside club, as he hasn’t given Simon Mignolet real competition for the starting spot, while Javier Manquillo will return to Atletico Madrid after his one year loan.
It will be tough for Rodgers to keep any of these players, and it will be equally as difficult for him to replace them, as Liverpool are struggling to break into the top four where they could use Champions League football as a draw card.
What do you think will happen if Liverpool lose these nine players?
