The Soweto derby is now behind us, and despite the result ending in a rather predictable stalemate, we as Kaizer Chiefs fans can still be very much confident of landing the Absa Premiership trophy.
Here are four simple reasons why our grip on the league title is getting firmer and firmer.
Unlikely To Surrender 11 Points
Let’s be honest on this one, there is no way Amakhosi should let an 11-point lead slip with eight games to go in the league. Yes, we still have the likes of Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns to take care off before the end of the season, but surely we will have learnt from last season’s collapse.
Too Strong Defensively
Defences win you titles, and with only 10 goals conceded in the league so far, our watertight backline is sure to continue keeping opposition at bay during the run-in.
Our Opponents Are Not Too Convincing
Many tend to forget that our direct rivals, Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns, have not been all that convincing themselves at times. Last week, Wits managed to beat Sundowns in what was a crucial tie for both teams. Also, did anyone notice that Wits lost 1-0 to Bloemfontein Celtic this weekend?
We Did Enough In The First Half Of The Season
With regards to accumulating points, we did all we could in the first half of the league season. Remaining unbeaten was not the top priority but the points that came with the unbeaten run is certainly doing us good going in the final stages of the season.
The title is ours to lose, what other factors do you think helped us in this regard?
