CT City Make Big Ertugral Decision

CT City Make Big Ertugral Decision

Muhsin Ertugral, Technical Director and Interim Head Coach of Cape Town City during the Betway Premiership 2024/25 game between Cape Town City and TS Galaxy at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on 5 March 2025

Cape Town City have made a big decision on Muhsin Ertugral following a string of disappointing results by the team under his guidance.

The Mother City outfit has confirmed parting ways with the experienced coach.

"After technical discussions, the club and Muhsin Ertugral have agreed mutually to part ways. The decision comes as a collective in the best interest of the club as we look to end the 24/25 season as strong as possible. We thank Muhsin for his professional and earnest contribution," confirmed the club on their official X account.

Ertugral, who joined the Citizens in January, was in charge of 14 matches, securing only three wins, with three draws, and suffering eight defeats.

The final decision came after City's recent 1-0 defeat to Marumo Gallants at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

That loss proved to be the tipping point for management, who decided to make a change in leadership.

Initially brought in as a Technical Director, the club had hoped that Ertugral's experience would help stabilise the team as interim head coach until the end of the season.

However, with City currently sitting in 13th place on the Betway Premiership log, the club felt it was in their best interest to make a change.

Ertugral, a veteran coach in Mzansi football, previously had spells with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, among other clubs in the PSL.

Despite his extensive experience, the 65-year-old was unable to turn things around for City during his short tenure.

Meanwhile, Cape Town City has since confirmed that first team coach Diogo Peral will take over from Ertugral until the end of this campaign. Peral will be assisted by former Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa, and Lebogang Manyama.
