Despite only recently returning to action, the 30-year-old is set to play no role in his team's league match against Smouha on Thursday night.
According to Kolel Koora, the former Mamelodi Sundowns forward has picked up another injury and did not participate in team training on Wednesday.
This comes only days after he came off the bench to score in Ahly's convincing 4-0 victory over El Mokawloon at home.
The Red Devils are currently at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table ahead of Pyramids by five points with two games in hand, having won their last 19 consecutive league matches.
Injury issues have seen Tau manage just 10 league appearances, in which he has scored seven goals, this season amid his uncertain future at the club.
