In court this week, the former Brazil international's lawyer Ines Guardiola said her client is broke, and is £17 000 in debt as he stands accused of raping a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.
The footballer has spent the past year in prison awaiting the trial and could be handed a sentence of up to 12 years if he is found guilty.
It is believed Alves will share his testimony with the court on Wednesday, with 28 witnesses, including his wife Joana Sanz, set to take the stand.
According to OneFootball, Guardiola has claimed the ex-Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus fullback has a negative bank balance, and has had other assets worth £42 795 (about R1 million) frozen by the authorities.
This is an incredible fall from grace for the right-back often considered among the best of all time in his position, and who was once reportedly worth a staggering £47 million during the height of his career.

It is reported that state prosecutors want Alves jailed for a significant period of time if he is found guilty, although Spanish press have also claimed the player could accept a plea bargain and receive a four-year sentence instead.
