Why Cape Verde Could Be Bafana's Biggest Test

Why Cape Verde Could Be Bafana's Biggest Test

Bafana Bafana have faced some continental giants in Mali, Tunisia and Morocco, but their biggest test at the Africa Cup of Nations looks set to come in the form of Cape Verde.

Strange, right? Cape Verde? A country many would consider 'small' has proven to be one of the top performers in the competition, with numbers and scalps that show that they cannot be underestimated.

They finished comfortably on top of group B, four points ahead of second-placed side Egypt. In their opening match of the competition, they stunned Ghana with a 2-1 victory and they secured a point against an Egyptian side that many had considered one of the favourites to win the tournament.

Cape Verde have shown just how much they are dangerous in the final third of the pitch. They have scored eight goals in four matches in the competition and will test a Bafana side that has kept three clean sheets in a row.

Bafana have dealt well with North African sides Tunisia and Morocco, but will face a tricky test against a Cape Verde side that is relentless in how they attack, using the pace of their forwards to unsettle opposition.

The islanders have played in a way that shows that they do not fear anyone and this could make them a dangerous opponent for Hugo Broos' men.

Bafana will certainly be given a run for their money and this could be their biggest test in the competition so far.
