Erik ten Hag has explained why he decided to drop England international Marcus Rashford from his starting XI for Manchester United's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old received strong criticism for his performance against Newcastle United last weekend and was subsequently left out from the start against the Blues.
In his absence, the Red Devils dominated against Chelsea for large parts of the game on Wednesday night and left Old Trafford with all three points following a brace from Scott McTominay.
Rashford was introduced late on, but Ten Hag did insist ahead of the encounter that it was a decision based on squad rotation and not the winger's perceived lack of commitment against the Magpies.
"No, we played bad (against Newcastle) as a team so we can't blame individuals for that," he told Amazon Prime Video.
"It's part of rotation, and I think we have a very good, energised frontline.
"Everyone has to be ready and we do it as a team, as a dressing room."
Rashford has scored just twice in 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season, after enjoying his best-ever return in the 2022/23 campaign.
