According to Sport, the Blaugrana are now seriously exploring the possibility of bringing Thiago Alcantara back to the club.
The 32-year-old Spaniard is approaching the final 12 months of his current deal at Anfield and given the recent midfield additions of Dominick Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, the Merseyside outfit are said not to be completely closed off to the possibility of selling the Spain international.
In a recent interview, Barca president Joan Laporta admitted that additions in midfield are a priority. Oriol Romeu and Giovani Lo Celso were believed to be the club's more realistic targets, but in light of the news regarding Thiago's status at Melwood, it seems he will be target for Xavi Hernandez.
The same report claims that the La Masia alumni is appreciated mostly for his versatility in midfield and having played alongside Xavi from 2011 to 2013, the Spanish tactician is perhaps privy to what the two-time UEFA Champions League winner is capable of.
