Man Utd 'Block' Shirt Sales For Player, Next No. 7 Revealed?

Man Utd 'Block' Shirt Sales For Player, Next No. 7 Revealed?

Alejandro Garnacho looks poised to follow in Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps in wearing the No. 7 jersey at Manchester United.

Manchester United have reportedly "blocked" the sale of a first-team star's jersey, suggesting he could be about to follow Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps in taking the No. 7 jersey.

According to the Daily Mirror, it appears 18-year-old winger Alejandro Garnacho could be set to take the famous shirt number at Old Trafford.

The publication reports fans have not been able to purchase a new United shirt with the player's surname and his current No. 49 on the back, with every other combination of player and their number available.

However, it seems the change is still to be confirmed as there is still a gap between Lisandro Martinez's No. 6 and Bruno Fernandes' No. 8.

Garnacho has impressed since breaking into the club's senior set-up this past season, during which he contributed to 12 goals in all competitions.

The Argentina international himself has reportedly dropped several hints that he would like to wear the team's No. 7 shirt, "liking" a tweet recently that called for the move to be made.

It is said that United believe the talented young attacker could be ready to don the jersey number, which has previously been worn by the likes of Ronaldo, David Beckham, Eric Cantona and George Best.
