Man Utd Draw Up 'Four-Man' Shortlist If Mount Deal Fails

Man Utd Draw Up 'Four-Man' Shortlist If Mount Deal Fails

Manchester United have reportedly drawn up a four-man shortlist of midfielders if they fail to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount.

Reports in England claim that the Red Devils had a third bid of £55million rejected by the Blues in the last couple days.

It is believed that Chelsea would be happy to accept a bid of £58million plus £7million in add-ons for the England international, who has one year left on his current deal.

While Man Utd and Erik ten Hag are still keen on the 24-year-old, the club are now seemingly exploring other targets in case the Mount deal does not happen.

Manchester Evening News have reported that the four-man list has been in place since April, which is when the club finalised their transfer targets for the new 2023/2024 season.

The list includes Brighton and Hove Albion's Moses Caicedo, West Ham United captain Declan Rice and Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who was close to joining the club last season.

Caicedo is reportedly a target for Chelsea, who have reportedly been in talks with Brighton but are yet to submit an offer.

Rice is apparently wanted by both Arsenal and Manchester City, with the former already seeing two of their bids rejected by the Hammers.

Red Devils left-back Luke Shaw says Rice and England teammate Harry Kane would both improve United after uploaded an image to Instagram with both players with the caption "Carrington Tour".

"Yes, [my Instagram post was] half joking. It is a bit of both. I know they are both world-class players and I don't know what is going on at their clubs but if it was down to me, I would take them in a heartbeat and they would improve our team massively and help us go to what we want to achieve," Shaw said, as per Goal.

"They have been here the last couple of days and hopefully, they like it and can get used to it! It is up to the club and whatever they decide so we have to go from there."
