Sibisi On Pirates Turnaround: It Has Been Our Achilles Heel

Nkosinathi Sibisi of Orlando Pirates.

Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi says he's delighted that they finally got over their "Achilles heel" after recording their third successive win in the DStv Premiership with Marumo Gallants' scalp.

Pirates returned from the FIFA World Cup break out of sorts, as they lost two successive games but they have since turned things around with three straight wins after beating Marumo Gallants 2-0 over the weekend.

Sibisi says they had a big challenge in Rustenburg playing against a side fighting "for their lives".

"It feels great to get the win away from home, we knew it was not going to be easy you know coming to a Marumo side, a very good playing team," Sibisi told the club's media after he was named Man of the Match.

"We knew we had to fight, we had the game in our hands, we wanted to make it three in a row and I'm glad we're finally getting that consistency.

"The teams down there we know they are playing for their lives, it was not going to be easy, we knew we had to fight from the very first whistle and I'm glad we did that and got the three points," he said.

In the run of three consecutive wins, the Buccaneers have scored nine goals in the process, with forward players finally coming to the party.

'Bhodlela', as the tough-tackling defender is known in the football circles, went on to commend the team's attacking players and says they are happy for them for finally getting back their scoring touch.

"We're happy for our forward players, they are doing an immense job you know, converting those chances, it has been our Achilles heel you know, first round of the season but now we're finally getting them (goals)," he went on.

"So I'm very happy for them and I'm very happy for the clean sheet as well," he added.
