Arteta Makes Arsenal History, Breaks Wenger Record

Arteta Makes Arsenal History, Breaks Wenger Record

Ten Hag Explains Decision To Make Ronaldo Captain

The Sunday afternoon clash at Stamford Bridge was the 150th time Mikel Arteta was sitting in the dugout for the Gunners and the Spaniard celebrated the occasion by marking it with his 87th victory as manager of the club.

The 40-year-old now has the most wins of any Arsenal manager after 150 games in charge, beating Wenger and George Graham, who each had 82 victories by this time during their tenures.

After overcoming the Blues, Arteta went on to admit that the north Londoners are now in contention to win the Premier League.

"We are in contention, today. In football, today and tomorrow are very different. But let's enjoy this time," the San Sebastian native said, as per The Sun.

"Manchester City have the best manager in the world, the best team in the world. They have shown it consistently in every single competition.

"We have to be very, very respectful of that. We are getting much better as a team, competing much better, getting really good results right now.

"Obviously we are still very early in the season. We have to maintain that.

"It is going to be a long, long marathon but we have had a really good start."

Nigeria Star Makes Serie A History After Napoli Comeback

Arteta first joined Arsenal, courtesy of Wenger, when the Frenchman bought the former midfielder from Everton on transfer deadline day in 2011. Just over a decade on from that signing, the former playmaker has gone on to help to the Gunners achieve their best-ever start to a Premier League season as the boss.
