Ronaldo: I Want To Play At EURO 2024

Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal's all-time record goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo has stated his intention to continue playing for his country beyond the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

PSG Star Makes Ronaldo-Messi Claim

On Tuesday night, the Portuguese Football Federation held their annual awards evening, during which Manchester United's No. 7 claimed an honorary accolade for being Portugal's greatest goalscorer in their history.

Ronaldo has found the back of the net a staggering 117 times since his debut for A Selecao in 2003, a tally that also makes him the leading scorer of all time in international football.

Upon accepting his award, the 37-year-old stated that he has ambitions to represent his country at the 2024 UEFA European Championship, insisting that his "road is not over yet".

"I hope to be a part of the federation for a few more years," he said, according to the Daily Mail.

"I still feel motivated, my ambition is high. My path in the national team is not over.

"We have many quality youngsters. I will be at the World Cup and I want to be at the European (Euros).

"I am proud to receive an award of this magnitude. I never thought that one day I could achieve it.

"I thank everyone who was important in my career. It has been a long road, but I would like to say that my road is not over yet."

Ronaldo has participated in 17 World Cup matches in four editions of the competition, while he has made 25 appearances at the Euros.

Of his 117 goals, 21 of them have been scored, in 42 games, in those two major tournaments.
